Investigation on the upconversion luminescence and ratiometric thermal sensing of SrWO4:Yb3+/RE3+ (RE = Ho/Er) phosphors

Abstract: SrWO4 phosphors doped with Ho3+(Er3+)/Yb3+ are successfully prepared by a high temperature solid-state reaction method.

“…The first one is based on the CR from 2 H 11/2 and 4 S 3/2 . The second is energy transfer (ETII) from the levels 4 I 13/2 (Er 3+ ) and 2 F 5/2 (Yb 3+ ) ( 2 F 5/2 (Yb 3+ ) + 4 I 13/2 (Er 3+ ) → 2 F 7/2 (Yb 3+ ) + 4 F 9/2 (Er 3+ )) [ 11 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 ].…”

“…As we know, the relation between the UC emission intensity (i.e., I) and pump power (i.e., P) is able to be expressed as: I ∝ P n or log(I) ∝ n log(P), where n represents the number of photons adopted to form the desired levels. 11,42 The plots of log(I) versus Afterward, ET from Yb 3+ to Ho 3+ occurs, resulting in the formation of the 5 I 6 level. Note that the 5 I 6 level is able to pump to the higher level of 5 F 4 / 5 S 2 via the second ET process, as depicted in Figure 3f.…”

“…For the aim of shedding light on the luminescence behaviors of the studied samples, we recorded the UC emission spectra of Al 2 Mo 3 O 12 :Ho 3+ /2 x Yb 3+ microparticles, which are depicted in Figure a. Excited by NIR light (i.e., 980 nm), all of the compounds exhibit the UC emissions of Ho 3+ , with emission bands with central wavelengths of 545, 661, and 760 nm deriving from the 5 F 4 / 5 S 2 → 5 I 8 , 5 F 5 → 5 I 8 , and 5 F 4 / 5 S 2 → 5 I 7 transitions of Ho 3+ , , respectively. Moreover, it is evident that the intensities of the detected UC emissions are able to be modified by tuning the Yb 3+ content, reaching their maximum values when x = 0.09 (see Figure b).…”

“…[ 10,11 ] Among these measurements, the FIR technique is the most commonly used as it has the advantage of eliminating the disturbance caused by external influences (such as excitation power and measuring devices). [ 12–15 ]…”
