In this study, the site selection problem for a supermarket chain is examined in Tarsus, Mersin of Turkiye. We consider four key factors: the new branch's area, parking capacity, local population density, and nearby competitor count. We employ three methods: TOPSIS, VIKOR, and the Taguchi method. While TOPSIS and VIKOR methods traditionally involve ranking previously studied alternatives for facility location, the Taguchi method introduces a fresh perspective to site selection. With the Taguchi method, we expedite the site selection process by drawing upon data from existing facility locations, eliminating the need to extensively explore alternative sites. We also predict the anticipated profitability upon launching the selected alternative. This approach underscores the uniqueness and advantages of the Taguchi method when compared to traditional methodologies in the field. Our study begins by evaluating the performance of existing branches and subsequently employs the Taguchi method to streamline the selection of a new branch location, culminating in a comparison of the results obtained from the three methodologies. TOPSIS and VIKOR yield similar rankings for existing branches. In contrast, the Taguchi method, using these branches, determines criteria for the new branch based on an L9 orthogonal array. A variance analysis reveals competitors (40.2%) and population size (35.8%) as the most significant factors. This study highlights the distinct perspectives these methods offer in facility location selection and their role in decision-making.

This study investigates Hybrid Particulate-Reinforced Aluminum Matrix Composites (HPRAMCs), a material class known for exceptional physico-mechanical, tribological, and corrosion resistant properties. The research synthesizes HPRAMCs using SiC, Al2O3, graphite (Gr), and sugar cane bagasse ash (SCBA) reinforcements through a powder metallurgy process, followed by sintering at 550°C for 3 h. Comprehensive tests include X-ray diffraction (XRD) for phase analysis, physico-mechanical assessments, tribological evaluations, and corrosion resistance analyses. Notably, secondary reinforcements significantly reduce porosity, with AS4 HPRAMC exhibiting a 0.53% porosity, while AS1 HPRAMC has 1.446%. AS4 HPRAMC displays a remarkable 209.76% increase in compressive strength and a 446.40% boost in material hardness compared to pure aluminum. Secondary reinforcements also improve tribological performance, reducing wear loss by 60.27% and the coefficient of friction by 89.89%. Exceptional corrosion resistance, with an inhibition efficiency of 99.691%, is observed in the AS4 HPRAMC sample, confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). These findings underline the substantial potential of HPRAMC materials, positioning them as promising candidates for aerostructural components, aircraft systems, automobiles, spacecraft, and high-performance engineering applications.

Al 7075 alloys are important in many technological domains, including the aerospace and automotive industries, on account of their exceptional strengthto-weight ratio and some other tribological and mechanical properties. Under dry and lubricated conditions, Al7075 alloys have poor sliding wear resistance performance. There are several available classes of a few alloys, however, the Al7075 alloy, which is found in a number of elements, exhibits good mechanical qualities that are being developed and researched for use in tribology. *Author for correspondenceAs ceramic particles are added, friction and wear resistance are also improved, which boosts the performance of ceramic-based composites. Aluminum alloy SiC/Gr/Zr filled composites are being investigated in order to improve their wear characteristics. Amith and Lakshmanan [1] utilized ultrasonic assisted stir casting process for the formation of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN)/Al7075 metal matrix composite. The objective is to enhance the physical properties of the hybrid composite metal than the base matrix. Tensile test was conducted on top of h-BN/Al7075 composite and concluded that 29.46% enhanced in tensile strength and stated only 0.6% is a correct composition. Kumar et al. [2]
