Abstract:Transepithelial ion transport across mammary epithelial cells underlies milk secretion and breast cyst formation. However, little is known about the molecular nature of the K+ channels involved. We have investigated the location and functionality of the KCNQ1 K+ channel in the mammary epithelial cell line MCF‐7. Using RT‐PCR, we determined that KCNQ1, as well as its accessory subunits KCNE1‐3, were present in MCF‐7 cells. KCNQ1 protein expression was confirmed by Western blotting and immunolocalization with co… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
