Ion acoustic solitary waves in magneto-rotating plasmas

Abstract: Propagation of an ion acoustic wave (IAW) in a magnetized electron-ion plasma, which is rotating around an axis at an angle θ with the direction of magnetic field, is studied by incorporating the effects of trapped and untrapped electron distributions. Employing the perturbation scheme, Korteweg-deVries and Schamel's modified KdV equations are derived for the small angle θ which may support the nonlinear IAW on a slow time scale of ion motion. The amplitude and width of the solitary wave in both cases (trapped… Show more

“…The study of rotating plasmas is important due to their applicability in astrophysics and fusion devices. [23−25] Mushtaq [26] studied the solitary wave structures in magnetized electron ion rotating plasma in the presence of untrapped and trapped electrons. The author derived the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) and Schamel's modified KdV (SkdV) equations by using the reductive perturbation method, and showed that the angle 𝜃 of plasma rotation plays a weak role in the nonlinear part and is significant in the dispersion part of the soliton.…”

“…This confining of the wave results leads to a decrease in the wave energy due to reflection of ions from the electrostatic field generated inside the plasma. [ 9 ] This loss of energy may be due to conversion into luminous energy. [ 4 ] The direction cosine l x has impact on the nonlinear and dispersive properties of solitary structure.…”

“…The rotation is considered slow such that quadratic and higher terms may be neglected. [9] The electrons obey Fermi Dirac distributions owing to the fact that Fermi temperature of electrons is larger than thermal temperature, that is, T Fe ≫ T.…”
