Ion conducting methylcellulose‐polyvinyl alcohol blend based electrolytes incorporated with ammonium thiocyanate for electric double layer capacitor application

Abstract: Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have received numerous attention for application in energy storage devices due to their safety performance and mechanical flexibility. However, further improvement of amorphousness and electrochemical performance is needed to realize the commercial potential of SPEs. In this work, a series of methylcellulose (MC)polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) blend-based electrolyte doped with ammonium thiocyanate (NH 4 SCN) salt has been prepared using solvent casting technique. MC-PVA-NH 4 SCN elec… Show more

“…The CV displays a leaf-like pattern at every scan rate. An ideal EDLC is defined by the presence of a rectangular CV electrochemical characteristic [ 78 ]. In essence, however, the primary characteristics of CV obtained in this study were altered owing to the nature of the electrode surface (porosity), which caused variations in internal resistance.…”

“…In addition, the vanishing of redox peaks in the CV profile demonstrated the existence of a charge-storage capacity through a non-faradaic mechanism, which is an essential characteristic of an ideal EDLC. Therefore, intercalation and deintercalation processes were absent [73,74]. Table 6 displays the CV values of the manufactured EDLC at different scan rates.…”
