Ionic transport in P(VdF-HFP)-PEO based novel microporous polymer electrolytes

Abstract: A novel microporous polymer electrolyte (MPE) comprising blends of poly(vinylidene fluoride-cohexafluoropropylene) [P(VdF-HFP)] and polyethylene oxide (PEO) was prepared by phase inversion technique. It was observed that addition of PEO improved the pore configuration, such as pore size, pore connectivity and porosity of P(VdF-HFP) based membranes. The room temperature ionic conductivity was significantly enhanced. The highest porosity of about 65% and ionic conductivity of about 7 × 10 -4 S cm -1 was obtained… Show more

“…30 The deformed vibration of CH 2 groups appears at 1403 cm -1 . 31 The characteristics peaks correspond to 1071 cm -1 ,759 cm -1 and 607 cm -1 are primarily due to the crystalline form of PVDF-HFP, whereas the bands at 872 and 841 cm -1 are assigned to amorphous phase of PVdF-HFP.…”

“…[14][15][16][17][18] The hexafluoropropylene copolymers of PVDF (PVDF-HFP) were reported to blend with LiClO 4 and PEO polymer in electrolyte applications. 15,17,18 The LiClO 4 as a salt was often used in earlier studies (for example, in 1980's), which was not active in wide applications any more. In addition, processing conditions and electrolyte performance were the main focus of these works, while the detailed structureperformance correlations were not provided.…”

“…In addition, several investigations of ion transport in PEO/(PVDF-HFP)/lithium perchlorate (LiClO 4 ) blends have been reported. 16,18,19 However, none provided detailed microstructure-performance relationships of the resultant blend electrolytes. In the present work, we focus on establishing microstructureperformance relationships in a series of PEO/PVDF/lithium bis-(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide (LiTFSI)-based electrolytes V C 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.…”

“…40 The strong absorption band around 1095 cm -1 is assigned to the main characteristic peak of non that the generated transition state will weaken the C-O-C stretching vibration and the crystallization of PEO will be decreased. 38 Further, these diffraction peaks were broadened and intensity was decomposed into amorphous phase with the incorporations of MWCNT. This might be due to the interaction between Li cations in the electrolytes and ߨ-electron clouds of MWCNT through ionic interaction.…”
