Ionizing Radiation Protein Biomarkers in Normal Tissue and Their Correlation to Radiosensitivity: Protocol for a Systematic Review

Abstract: Background: Radiosensitivity is a significantly enhanced reaction of cells, tissues, organs or organisms to ionizing radiation (IR). During radiotherapy, surrounding normal tissue radiosensitivity often limits the radiation dose that can be applied to the tumour, resulting in suboptimal tumour control or adverse effects on the life quality of survivors. Predicting radiosensitivity is a component of personalized medicine, which will help medical professionals allocate radiation therapy decisions for effective t… Show more

“…To overcome such possible sources of errors, we support the development of a unified ontology for the findability of studies. We also encourage authors who wish to write conventional or systematic reviews in omics-biology to formulate inclusion and exclusion criteria for removal of such studies, which would be transparently documented in the writing-process [6]. There is a difference in the timeline when the different omics platforms were used to investigate changes in living systems after exposure to IR.…”

“…Therefore, we assessed the physicochemical properties of the candidate MEV using the Expasy Protparam server (https://web.expasy.org/protparam/). We analyzed parameters such as molecular weight, amino acid composition, half-life in vitro and in vivo, theoretical isoelectric point (pI), instability index, aliphatic index, and grand average of hydropathy (GRAVY), which could impact the potential efficacy of the MEV [48]. We also evaluated the solubility of the candidate MEV using the protein-sol server (https:// protein-sol.manchester.ac.uk/), as the solubility of vaccine is essential in forming the correct spatial structure and inducing an effective immune response.…”

“…Later in 1997, the same investigators assessed 48 blood samples from cancer patients treated with radiotherapy, and 28 patients out of 48 were breast cancer patients [15]. Twelve cancer patients were categorized as the "high or extreme responders".…”
