IoT blood pressure monitoring system

Abstract: <p>The number of patients in hospital keep increasing every year and, some patients’s blood pressure must be measured by medical staff regularly. This means that the medical staff need to attend to the patient routinely and several readings are required in each session to make sure the results are accurate. Therefore, there is a need to simplify the monitoring process inside hospital in Malaysia. In this work, IoT Blood Pressure Monitoring System (IBPMS) is designed to monitor patient’s blood pressure re… Show more

“…The transmission could be interrupted by obstacles such as cars and buildings. However, LoRa still proven to be the best performance for long range transmission compared to other wireless technology such as Zigbee, radio frequency (RF) and wireless sensor network (WSN) where the transmission is limited within 100 meters of distances [21][22][23][24][25]. The RSSI reading is decreases as distances between transmitter and receiver increases.…”

“…We can get the respiratory rate by using mic sensor or strain sensor which can be in the form of respiratory belt. While the blood pressure can be read by using a device such as the one proposed by Hashim et al [16] as shown in Figure 4.…”
