Telecommunication service providers (SP) around the world are still in the process of migrating away from legacy networks towards next generation networks (NGN). The strategies for this have been and are different depending on the size of the market, historical background or financial resources of the SP just to name a few. This paper addresses these strategies mainly from a non-technical point of view aiming at seeking commonalities amongst different SPs. The migration processes of two smaller European countries have been looked at more closely to complement the dominant research done towards similar processes in larger countries to see if there are equally compatible strategies for different SPs irrespective of their background and properties. The work concludes that above all the size of the operator is a key factor in the transition to NGN

Today Telecom Operators vision is rapidly moving towards Next Generation Networks (NGN) that offer ubiquitous converged services over converged networks. Fixed-mobile convergence (FMC), is the convergence of mobile and fixed (or wire line) telecommunications services, terminal devices, and networks. The convergence of fixed and mobile services is an evolution from both the technological and marketing points of view. Most operators around the globe are keen to deploy FMC that leads to a full ALL IP network. This evolution towards FMC is driven by declining average revenues per user in both the mobile and fixed markets, and competition from other technologies. This paper gives an phase based solution for the FMC rollout and what are the main enablers that should be considered.

Özetçe -Netaş, geliştirdiği VoIP santral ile eski teknolojileri kullanan aboneler ile yeni nesil IP tabanlı teknolojiler arasında entegrasyonu sağlamıştır. Bunun yanında bu çözüm ile operatörlere, abonelerine konumdan bağımsız hizmet verebilme imkanı ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu çalışmada, kapasite artışının ve IP servis çeşitliliğinin uluslararası santrallerde daha etkin bir şekilde yönetilebilmesi için geliştirilen Çoklu Ülke VoIP Santral çözümü ve sağlanan verimlilik anlatılmıştır. Abstract-The VoIP switch, that Netas is responsible for the R&D, provided integration between TDM customers and newfashion IP Technologies. Moreover, the switch has "independence from location" feature, via this solution. In this work, we share our experience and talk about efficiency gained with Multi Country VoIP Switch solution that is used to manage capacity increase and IP service diversity on international switches.
