Iron-Catalyzed Carboiodination of Alkynes

Abstract: An iron-catalyzed carboiodination of alkynes with alkyl iodides at room temperature was developed. This method could provide synthetically useful vinyl iodides with general alkyl chains, fluoroalkyl group, ester, and cyano group. Conjugated alkynes or unconjugated alkynes were both suitable for this transformation. A radical pathway was proposed for the mechanism and acetyl tert-butyl peroxide was selected as the radical initiator. Alkenes could also be applied to this chemistry and produce more complex alkyl… Show more

“…The use of primer resins, such as epoxy resin, was found to be effective in filling the pores, limiting the sorption of water vapor, and preventing associated degradation effects [ 44 , 45 ]. Deng et al [ 46 ] compared different types of fillers, including alkyd, one-component polyurethane, and two-component polyurethane. Alkyd filler was found to have the highest adhesive strength for oak, while one-component polyurethane filler has the lowest.…”

“…Alcohols react with N 2 O 3 to give nitrites. Alkyl nitrites [4] are commercially available nitrosating agents manufactured by the O-nitrosation of alcohols with HNO 2 (aq). [124,125] Grossi and coworkers [126] bubbled air and excess NO through the acetonitrile solution of C 5 -C 8 cycloalkyl alcohols ( 7) at 0 °C (Scheme 10a); the nitrosation proceeded via the in situ generated N 2 O 3 and gave nitrites (8) in 64-89 % yield (GC-MS) (Eq.…”

“…In the nitrosative transformations using HNO 2 generated from nitrite and acid, N 2 O 3 is involved as reactive intermediate. [1,2] Dinitrogen trioxide is a powerful nitrosating agent that outmatches other existing reagents (such as NaNO 2 , [3] nitrites, [4,5] NOCl, [6] nitrosonium salts [7] etc.) in terms of reactivity and atom economy.…”

“…To show the applicability of this transformation, the authors performed a series of cross-coupling reactions, demonstrating the neighboring perfluoroalkyl groups did not impede the reaction. In 2018, Bao and co-workers expanded on the carboiodination reaction ( Scheme 40 ) [ 151 ]. Their method allowed for the general alkyl chains, as well as ester and cyano moieties, to be added across the alkene.…”
