“…We have recently studied in detail the synthesis and coordination chemistry of chiral as well as functionalized 2,4,6‐triarylphosphinine derivatives, including phosphorus analogues of 2,2′‐bipyridine and terpyridine 6. Although the reaction of 2,4,6‐triphenylphosphinine with organolithium reagents is well documented, the coordination chemistry of 2,4,6‐triphenyl‐λ 4 ‐phosphinine anions has hardly been studied, and the few investigated complexes have only been characterized spectroscopically 3c,5a. We report here on the reaction of 2,6‐diphenyl‐4‐( p ‐tolyl)‐phosphinine ( 1 ) and the structurally related 2‐(2′‐pyridyl)‐4,6‐diphenylphosphinine ( 2 ), which are derivatives of 2,4,6‐triphenyl‐λ 3 ‐phosphinine, with phenyllithium.…”

“…The stereodirection of the phosphine ligand (PPh 3 ) in triphenylphosphine-substituted organoiron complexes has been recognized [ 60 , 64 , 192 , 209 , 286 289 , 293 ] and importance of the phosphorus atoms in transition metal complexes including organoiron complexes is of current interest [ 36 , 41 , 471 , 531 , 533 535 ]. A series of new iron complexes of phosphinine [ 537 , 538 ], phosphine [ 539 542 ] and phosphane [ 522 , 543 , 544 ] derivatives have been prepared and their reactions studied.…”

“…5 Metal complexes of l 5 -phosphinines are very rare and only one example, partially characterized, was reported by Dimroth and coworkers in the case of a cyclopentadienyl iron complex. 6 As part of a program aimed at studying mixed phosphininebased S-P-S pincer ligands, we recently found that the reaction of butyllithium with the easily available sulfide 2 (made by sulfurization of 1) 7 resulted in the formation of the corresponding 1-n-butylcyclophosphahexadienylanion 3. Subsequent reaction of 3 with one equivalent of [Pd(COD)Cl 2 ] cleanly affords the palladium complex 4 which was structurally characterized (Scheme 1).…”
