One presents data about the structure, physical and chemical properties of iron sulfides, the mechanism of their oxidation, their uses and their environmental implications. The iron sulfides are classified as iron monosulfides (pyrrhotite, troilite and mackinawite) and iron disulfides (pyrite and marcasite).
