Irritability Rather Than Depression During Interferon Treatment Is Linked to Increased Tryptophan Catabolism

Abstract: Aggressive impulse dysregulation is highly prevalent in patients receiving interferon treatment. This is associated with decreased plasma tryptophan levels which may lead to attenuated peripheral and central serotonergic neurotransmission.
