Irritated Pigmented Plaque on the Scalp

Abstract: A 49-year-old man with light brown skin and no history of skin cancer presented with a pruritic lesion on the scalp of 3 years' duration. Physical examination revealed a 7×3-cm, brown, mammillated plaque on the left parietal scalp. A shave biopsy of the scalp lesion was performed. THE BEST DIAGNOSIS IS: a. clonal melanoacanthoma b. hidroacanthoma simplex c. malignant melanoma d. seborrheic keratosis e. squamous cell carcinoma in situ
