Is the real estate profession under threat? Assessing the effect of the involvement of non-professionals in Nigeria real estate agency service provision

“…Estate Surveyors and Valuers were selected for the study because RE agency is an integral aspect of their core competencies hence, they were expected to have a professional and better understanding of the peculiar characteristics of property market, thereby providing adequate and reliable information. Further, to maintain credibility of the data, it was particularly important to restrict the survey to professional estate surveyors and valuers given the proliferation of unscrupulous activities that has attended RE agency practice in Nigeria due to lack of regulation and the resultant encroachment of the practice by all manners of individuals who are not licensed to practice (Agboola et al, 2021).
