Isaak Konstantinovich Kikoin (Obituary)

Abstract: PACS. 13.40. -Electromagnetic processes and properties. PACS. 11.30. -Symmetry and conservation laws.Abstract. -SU(3) breaking mechanisms for pseudoscalar-meson charge radii are discussed and confronted with the data. These mechanisms are compatible with Sirlin's theorem, but differ in more specific predictions. The present data tend to support constituent-quark model ideas for S U(3) breaking rather than traditional vector meson dominance or recent chiral perturbation theory approaches.

“…Various theoretical treatments have been developed for grazing incidence diffraction. For single crystals, they are based on an extended dynamical theory of x-ray diffraction in the two-beam case [24][25][26][27] or on various degrees of approximation by applying the formalism of the quantum mechanical scattering theory (the Born approximation (BA) and distorted wave Born approximation (DWBA)) [28,29].…”

“…A few words about the role of negative ions in formation of the reactive species in the discharge zone: high gas temperature (T ≈ 950 K) in this zone leads to the rate of electron detachment from negative ions practically overcoming the rate of electron attachment to oxygen [54], and the role of negative ions in the charged particle kinetics being negligible. In other words, the main role in the generation and excitation of reactive species in the discharge zone belongs to electrons.…”

“…Collisions between active particles and negative ions result in fast electron detachment in air (Kossyi et al 1992). Another way of increasing the rate of electron detachment in air is to heat the gas to ∼ 1000 K. This leads to fast electron detachment from the O − 2 ion (Massey 1976, Aleksandrov 1986.…”
