Ischaemic conditioning strategies reduce ischaemia/reperfusion-induced organ injury

Abstract: Reperfusion of tissues subjected to prolonged ischaemia results in ischaemic/reperfusion injury. Fortunately, there are strategies that can be applied to attenuate this injury. These include ischaemic pre- and post-conditioning; both have been shown experimentally to reduce ischaemic/reperfusion injury by up to 75%. The molecular mechanisms of ischaemic conditioning involve the activation of surface G-protein-coupled receptors for adenosine, bradykinin, opioids, and cannabinoids. These in turn stimulate growth… Show more

“…In recent years, the use of baicalin sildenafil [19], resveratrol [20] and other drugs can alleviate IIRI to some extent. It is of great significance to explore the new pathogenesis of IIRI and appropriate intervention methods [21].…”

“…The mechanism of injury in many of the above situations is ischaemia reperfusion injury (IRI). [51][52][53] This is as a result of the switch of the tissue from aerobic to anaerobic respiration. Tissues are able to fully recover from short periods of ischaemia.…”

“…Reperfüzyonun sözü edilen olumsuz etkisi, kan akışının yeniden düzenlenmesiyle indüklenen inflamatuar tepkilerin bir sonucudur ve "İskemi/Reperfüzyon (İ/R) zedelenmesi" olarak adlandırılmaktadır. 1 Kısa süreli iskemi sonrası reperfüzyon dokuda tam iyileşme sağlayabilirken, uzun süreli iskemi sonucu oluşan doku zedelenmesine ek olarak, reperfüzyon durumu daha da kötüleştirebilir.…”
