The public library is an abode of information and knowledge, committed to education, culture, and Library advocacy. Though public libraries are called “people’s University” and cater to varied categories of users and their infinite information needs without any discrimination but still in India many such libraries are still not providing effective services to the user community. In India, out of 28 states, 19 states have already enacted library legislation with the latest entrant being Telangana State (2015) and though Haryana State enacted the Act in the year 1989 but still very few comprehensive studies conducted either by any public library or the users’(RRRLF). Well, the present study attempts to check out the ground reality of the State Central Library along with 2 District Libraries of the State of Haryana in terms of library collection, services, facilities, and user satisfaction. A descriptive survey research design was employed, and 500 library users across three public libraries were surveyed using a structured questionnaire, out of which 396 responses(n=396) were found eligible for the analysis. The study found an improvement in the use of public libraries in the region but identified some inadequate facilities like lack of enhanced library services along with updated collection, and poor internet/ICT services as major factors affecting user satisfaction. The findings suggest that the Haryana government should increase funding to public libraries to acquire adequate information resources and ICT facilities, thereby increasing the utilization of public libraries and meeting the information needs of the users.

Purpose Companies are increasingly implementing business process management systems (BPMSs) to support their processes. However, there is a gap in the literature regarding whether users also use BPMSs to manage the knowledge needed for processes to be completed. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause users to use BPMSs to manage the knowledge required in business processes. Design/methodology/approach The paper proposes an original model that integrates two successful information system models applied to BPMSs and knowledge management systems. To test the hypotheses derived from this new model, data were collected from 242 mature BPMS users from 12 Spanish and Latin American companies. Structural equation modeling with AMOS was used to examine the model. Findings Users’ perceived usefulness of a BPMS when using it for knowledge management (KM) is the only factor influencing them to use it for KM. Practical implications This study has practical implications for managers wishing to successfully implement a BPMS to support processes and for employees to use the knowledge embedded in the tool. The latter will only happen if users perceive the tool’s usefulness for KM. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this model is the first empirically validated model to successfully analyze BPMS users’ tendency to use BPMSs as a tool to support necessary KM in processes.

The ability of Escherichia coli to become increasingly resistant to sterilization has resulted in high cases of this bacterial infection. To overcome this problem, a new method is needed. The circuit design uses 2 parallel plates of copper material. The first plate is HV electrode and second plate is ground electrode which is separated by a dielectric layer. Non-thermal plasma with surface dielectric barrier discharge is generated using a 20 VDC voltage source and then transformed into a high voltage source to generate plasma. Distance between plasma source and fixed sample is 3 mm. OES is used to observe reactive species produced in plasma indicated by magnitude of intensity at certain wavelengths. SDBD non-thermal plasma could be used to inactivate bacteria depending on treatment time. The longer treatment time, greater inactivation ability. For the number of colonies after being treated for 120 s, namely 4.33×107 CFU/mL, it was much lower than control, which was 409×107 CFU/ml. For DNA after being treated for 120 s, results of genome from Escherichia coli were no longer visible or faded, marked by a DNA concentration of 8.18 ng/ul, far lower than the control DNA concentration of 124.44 ng/ul. For the activity of the protease enzyme, the time variation of 105 s had the smallest activity value of the protease enzyme, namely 35.375 U/mL compared to control, which was 52.307 U/mL whereas for cell morphology after 120 s treatment showed increasingly severe cell damage observed using SEM. Non-thermal plasma SDBD configurations can be used to inactivate or kill bacteria. Effectiveness or capability of non-thermal plasma also depends on the treatment time. SDBD nonthermal plasma ability increases with the longer treatment time. HIGHLIGHTS In this research, a non-thermal plasma method of surface dielectric barrier discharge (SDBD) for Escherichia coli sterilization was developed. The results of research on inactivation of Escherichia coli bacteria using non-thermal plasma SDBD showed that the configuration of non-thermal plasma SDBD could be used to inactivate or kill bacteria. The effectiveness or capability of non-thermal plasma also depends on the treatment time. SDBD non-thermal plasma capability increases with longer treatment time. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT
