Isolation and characterization of filamentous fungi capable of degrading the mycotoxin patulin

Abstract: Patulin is a toxic secondary metabolite synthesized by various fungal strains. This mycotoxin is generally toxic to microorganisms as well as mammals due to its reactivity with the important cellular antioxidant glutathione.
