ISOLATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PISANG TONGKAT LANGIT (Musa troglodytarum L.) ACS1 AND ACO1 GENE EXPRESSION DURING FRUIT RIPENING PROCESS

Abstract: Pisang tongkat langit (Musa troglodytarum L.) is a banana cultivar originated from Eastern Indonesia. Previous studies showed that ACS1 and ACO1 are genes that play an important role in banana ethylene biosynthesis. However, characterization and analysis of M. troglodytarum ACS1 and ACO1 genes have not been reported. This study aims to isolate and characterize the ACS1 and ACO1 gene expression profile during fruit ripening process. Gene fragment isolation was performed using PCR based method. Results showed th… Show more

“…Loka Pere is a local banana that has never been analyzed phylogenetically so through the DNA Barcoding technique it is possible to conduct research related to its kinship with other types of bananas in Indonesia by isolating the molecular marker Internal Transcribed Spacer 2 (ITS2) for later in silico analysis. Internal Transcribed Spacers (ITS) are widely used in taxonomy and phylogenetics due to several advantages including small size and being in highly conserved areas [4], high copy number, experiencing rapid evolution through unequal crossing-over [5], gene conversion [6], and having a high level of variation among related species [7]. close and passed down biparentally [8].…”
