Isolation and Characterization of Salt Tolerant Bacteria from Saline Areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Abstract: The survival of microbes in various severe condition leads to developments in the medical, agricultural, and bioenergy sectors. In this study we isolate, identify and characterize salt tolerant bacteria from saline areas. Sample was taken from hyper saline areas of KP. Four bacterial isolates were isolated from sample and different techniques were applied. All the bacterial isolates were able to grow on agar media in the presence of salt this shows the strict halotolerant nature of isolates. Serial dilution wa… Show more

“…Plastics have been used in a wide range of applications and are involved in every aspect of our lives for over a century since their invention. Intensive and low repeatable use, poor recycling, and unexpected resistance of plastics to environmental and microbial action results in the accumulation of large amounts of waste in marine and terrestrial environments, posing a significant risk to human and animal life (T. Hussain et al., 2022). Owing to the metabolic diversity of the Pseudomonas genus, isolates from environmental matrices have demonstrated varying degrees of efficiency in the degradation of synthetic plastics, including polypropylene, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polyurethane, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol, and polyethylene succinate.…”
