Tri-NHC Pt II complexes, [Pt(L C ) 3 Cl]Cl, 1 and [Pt(L C ) 2 -(L CN )](BF 4 ) 2 , 3 [L = 1-(N-methylbenzimidazol-2-yl)-3-benzylimidazol-2-ylidene] and the analogous di-NHC complex [Pt(L C )(L CN )Cl]Cl, 2 have been isolated and crystallographically identified.
