Abstract: Carotenoids are extensively used in drugs, cosmetics, nutrients, and foods, owing to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory characteristics. Diverse marine heterotrophic prokaryotes can accumulate carotenoids and become promising alternatives for the advancement of carotenoids production.
