“…As a first step, however, the identification of stem cell types in a variety of insects has been reported (Corley and Lavine, 2006). In the case of mosquitoes, midgut stem cells from the house mosquito Culex pipiens have been isolated and cultured, though for a limited period of time (Wassim et al, 2014).
