Isothermal Evaporation Process Simulation Using the Pitzer Model for the Quinary System LiCl–NaCl–KCl–SrCl2–H2O at 298.15 K

Abstract: The Pitzer thermodynamic model for liquid-solid equilibrium in the quinary system LiCl-NaCl-KCl-SrCl 2 -H 2 O at 298.15 K was constructed by selecting the proper parameters and standard chemical potential. The solubility data and water activity data of the systems SrCl 2 -H 2 O, NaCl-SrCl 2 -H 2 O, KCl-SrCl 2 -H 2 O, LiCl-SrCl 2 -H 2 O, and NaCl-KCl-SrCl 2 -H 2 O were used to evaluate the model. Good agreement between the calculated and experimental solubility data indicates that the model is reliable. The Pit… Show more

“…This is due to the hardship in investigation of multicomponent systems mentioned above. Many examples of quinary systems that are studied with respect to particular solid phases can be found in the literature (Cui et al 2016;Meng et al 2015;Sang et al 2005;Sang and Jiang 2010;Wang and Zeng 2014;Xudong et al 2014;Yang et al 2013;Zeng and Lin 2009). The translation method takes the quinary system as a whole set without eliminating any solid phase in the system and generates comprehensive data about the system.…”

“…The reciprocal arrangement of geometrical figures in latter volumes gives the structures of drysalt diagrams of system saturated with equilibrium solid phases. The work performed by Meng et al 3 generated diagram of the system saturated with KCl. The segment which is saturated with the latter phase is shown in Figure 10e.…”

“…In this study, we present the results of prediction of phase equilibria and construction of total phase diagrams for the three Li, Na, K, Sr//Cl–H 2 O, Li, Na, K//SO 4 , B 4 O 7 –H 2 O and Na, K, Mg//SO 4 , B 4 O 7 –H 2 O quinary systems by means of the translation method to show possible crystallization–dissolution pathways in the systems. The processes of crystallization and dissolution of salts in these systems can be identified by the principles of relevant phase equilibria.…”

“…Moreover, only experimental results are not adequate to reveal the relations of the nearby crystallization areas in the diagrams of complex systems. 1 Hence, there is always a need for sound theoretical elucidations which support, guide, and analyze the experimental investigations.…”
