Isotopic Compositions (Li‐B‐Si‐O‐Mg‐Sr‐Nd‐Hf‐Pb) and Fe2+/ΣFe Ratios of Three Synthetic Andesite Glass Reference Materials (ARM‐1, ARM‐2, ARM‐3)

Abstract: To expand the newly developed ARM glasses as reference materials for in situ microanalysis of isotope ratios and iron oxidation state by a variety of techniques such as SIMS, LA-MC-ICP-MS and EPMA, we report Li-B-Si-O-Mg-Sr-Nd-Hf-Pb isotope data and Fe 2+ /ΣFe ratios for these glasses. The data were mainly obtained by TIMS, MC-ICP-MS, IR-MS and wetchemistry colorimetric techniques. The quality of these data was cross-checked by comparing different techniques or by comparing the results from different laborator… Show more

“…The eight geological reference glasses used in this study consisted of NIST SRM 612, 32 three USGS glasses (BCR-2G, BHVO-2G, and TB-1G), 33 three MPI-DING glasses (ATHO-G, KL2-G, and T1-G), 34 and an IGGCAS glass (ARM-2), 35 which altogether have Nd contents of 21.6–60.9 μg g −1 . Table 2 summarizes the chemical compositions of these reference glasses.…”

“…Hg, 204 (Hg þ Pb),206 Pb,207 Pb,208 Pb,232 Th and 238 U during the data acquisition. In this study, a total of four reference materials (RMs) were used including two calcite U-Pb reference materials for calibration of U/Pb ratios and validation of the results (WC-1 and Duff Brown Tank;Hill et al 2016;Roberts et al 2017) and two glass reference materials for calibration of Pb/Pb ratios and drift correction (ARM-3 and NIST SRM 614;Woodhead & Hergt, 2001;Wu et al 2021). Two analyses of glass NIST SRM 614 and ARM-3 in combination with three analyses of WC-1 were analysed bracketing every ten analyses of unknown samples.…”

“…2005a) and the andesitic ARM‐1, 2, 3 series (Wu et al . 2019, 2021) are synthetic glasses. These glasses are commonly used as calibration materials because their trace elements occur at nearly constant mass fractions of ~ 500 μg g −1 , ~ 50 μg g −1 , ~ 5 μg g −1 and ~ 0.5 μg g −1 , providing precise calibration for microanalytical techniques, but they typically have different matrix compositions to minerals of interest.…”
