“…High defect energy and consequent hindrance to intrinsic disorder accounts for the high chemical stability in BaZrO 3 -based PCs under reducing environments. As a result, Hossain et al 263 examined the chemical characteristics of Ydoped BaZrO 3 under dry and wet H 2 and argon (Ar) atmospheres. The measured conductivity resembles the predictions of considerable difference between dry and wet atmospheres.…”

“…Recently, Hossain et al reviewed the proton-conducting BZO perovskites in terms of material science and computational engineering. These in-depth focused reviews on the physical characteristics of barium zirconate from experimental and theoretical studies will help to perform future research in this sector. Hossain et al also experimentally studied SOFC electrolyte materials preparation in different sintering conditions , and conductivity measurements in various hydrogen-containing atmospheres for the BaZr 0·9 Y 0·1 O 3‑α (BZY), BaZr 0·955 Y 0·03 Co 0·015 O 3‑α (BZYC), and Gd 2 O 3 sintered pellets. Last, but not least, very recent studies show that SOFC electrodes associated with multiple REOs have also shown promising characteristics, such as resistance to sulfur poisoning and stable degradation behavior at high temperatures, which are desirable in fuel cell applications. , Specific applications of REOs in SOFCs are given in Table .…”

“…[21] In contrast, the BaZrO 3 matrix conductor exhibits excellent stability because of its relatively high electronegativity; however, its poor sintering performance results in processing difficulties and low overall electrical conductivity. [22][23][24][25] The BaZrO 3 -BaCeO 3 solid solution is a compromise between stability and conductivity. By adjusting the Ce/Zr ratio and doping ions, such as Y 3þ and Yb 3þ , co-doped BaZrO 3 -BaCeO 3 (such as BaZr 0.1 Ce 0.7 Y 0.1 Yb 0.1 O 3Àδ ), exhibits high conductivity with high chemical stability; however, the conductivity of this system is still lower than that of BaCeO 3 .…”
