Isozyme distribution of hexokinase, phosphofructokinase and pyruvate kinase in lymphocytes from patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia

Abstract: SummaryThe enzyme activities and isozyme distribution of the three glycolytic regulator enzymes hexokinase, phosphofructokinase and pyruvate kinase were studied in lymphocytes of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Isozyme distribution patterns were determined by kinetic measurements, electrophoresis and immunoprecipitation. The CLL lymphocytes were different from normal non-T lymphocytes with respect to hexokinase residual activity in the presence of glucose-l ,6-P,, pyruvate kinase residual activity i… Show more

“…10, 12, 13, 16, 17, 40, 41 HK was reported not to be over-expressed in CLL. 42 We confirmed this for HK-II but found HK-I over-expression in some CLL patients (by 30%) at the protein level and no change at the mRNA level. 23 We have previously demonstrated that Antp-LP4 detached HK from mitochondrial VDAC1 in T-Rex-293 cells, and from rat brain and BCL1 leukemia tumors.…”
