“…This data set can also be used to study more specifically the experiences of Americans with disabilities, such as barriers to their employment. Loprest and Maag (2003) used the NHIS-D to study barriers to work among adults with disabilities. They showed that among work-oriented nonworking adults with disabilities who reported having encountered difficulties, 52.5% cited the lack of appropriate jobs available as the reason for difficulty.…”
