Ist der European Addiction Severity Index ein sinnvolles Diagnoseinstrument bei Alkoholabhängigkeit?

Abstract: The severity ratings by means of EuropASI-Composite Scores illustrated the assumption that the severity level gives information about the treatment needs: the more severe disorder the larger the treatment needs. Furthermore, a t0-t1-decrease of the Composite Scores was shown for the whole sample in the domains 'alcohol use' and 'employment satisfaction'. This points to a reduction of the addiction severity level due to treatment. In spite of some limitations regarding the Composite Scores, the EuropASI seems t… Show more

“…The EuropASI has been developed on the basis of the fifth version of the American Addiction Severity Index (McLellan et al., ). The severity of problems was calculated for each of the 9 subscales and ranged from 0 = “no problem” to 1 = “extreme problem.” Age at onset of substance dependence, years of substance dependence, and number of previous detoxifications were assessed as additional outcome variables.…”

Baseline interviews were administered by staff members of the treatment units involved and by trained Master students in Educational Sciences (Ghent University).…”

“…The ASI is a widely used self-report assessment and research instrument tested in numerous treatment settings with diverse groups of substance abusers [50,52,53]. It is a one-hour structured interview that measures lifetime and recent (past 30 days) severity of problems on a 10-point scale (0-9) in seven areas of bio-psychosocial functioning: medical status, employment and self-support, alcohol use, drug use, legal status, family and social relationships, and psychiatric symptoms [54].…”
