Wood packaging materials (WPMs) are widely used for collecting, storing and trading a wide range of products, including fresh fruit, vegetables and grains. The occurrence of moulds on WPMs used in the food industry must be avoided at every stage of the supply chain. This study aimed at (1) characterising fungal mould populations developing on fresh boards of hardwoods (European beech and poplar) and softwoods (Norway spruce and eastern white pine) commonly used by the packaging industry, and (2) assessing the effectiveness of two new molecules approved to come in contact with food, potassium sorbate and copper-8-quinolinolate, against mould growth and sporulation. A total of 322 fungal isolates belonging to 182 putatively different morphotypes were obtained. Spruce and beech boards were found to harbour a higher number of putatively different morphotypes compared to poplar and pine. The spectrum of fungi mostly included Ascomycota and the most abundant taxa were Trichoderma spp. and Penicillium spp. The effectiveness of the two new molecules (potassium sorbate approved for the use in both Europe and USA, and copper-8-quinolinolate approved for the use in USA only) was assessed on treated test pieces by inoculating conidial suspensions combining the three most common fungal species for each wooden material. Both preservatives showed comparable effectiveness and significantly reduced (P < 0.05) mould mycelial growth and sporulation on all the tested wooden materials compared to untreated controls, representing a suitable option for the control of moulds on WPMs.

intelligence (AI) empowers innovative applications in furniture that are presented in generative models. In recent times, there are many implementations of machine-learning approaches to develop the furniture design process. Due to contemporary individuals' requirements, rapid fluctuations in customers' preferences, and the geometrics complexity of designs, furniture designers need to explore multiple alternative solutions during the design process. This study aims to clarify the current AI technologies implemented in furniture design to develop the design process and boost furniture designers' abilities and performances in their work. Therefore, this study presents two models: the first one is for the design process to differentiate between the design conducted by humans and the design implemented by AI. The second model clarifies the role of the furniture designer inside AI systems for the design process. Based on the review study, the author presents a SWOT analysis of the strengths, weaknesses (limitations), opportunities, and threats of using AI to design furniture. A survey was conducted to measure furniture designers' responses to the SWOT analysis. The findings of this paper have enclosed that, (89.4%) of furniture designers view AI performs better in generating initial ideas than other design tasks. (87.2%) view AI is not sufficient without the involvement of designers. (72.3%) view AI is a professional design tool that will enhance interactive design and virtual design. (78.7%) of them are afraid of losing designers' identities due to using the same AI techniques.

The introduction of AI technology in the process of industrial product design is helpful for designers to better analyze and apply complex data. This study integrates AI with industrial design, applies new ideas and technologies in AI to industrial design, and changes the traditional industrial design mode. The contents of AI and industrial design are analyzed in detail, and the research methods such as literature research, field observation, and interview are used to further clarify the design objectives and conditions. From the perspectives of the design process, product structure, engineering data, and project maintenance, the method of product design information exchange and sharing is put forward. The system architecture of industrial design service systems based on AI technology is given. Theory and practice show that the overall performance of this algorithm is good. The industrial design method based on AI has certain positive effects and achieved good results. This research provides a new idea for intelligent industrial design.
