Ito and Fto Coated Glass Characterization Using Sem and Afm Techniques

Abstract: Transparent conducting oxides like indium tin oxide (ITO) and fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) represent an active area of research in the field of nanomaterials. This study aims to investigate the surface profile of the ITO and FTO coated glass used for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) manufacturing process. The surface morphology of the samples was probed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The atomic force microscopy (AFM) technique was used in order to obtain the topography and roughness for these sampl… Show more

“…Figure S6 shows the top-view SEM micrographs of the bare ITO electrodes and the PCBP, PTCB, and PTPTCzSiOH films electrodeposited on the ITO surface. The surface of the ITO was smooth, with little roughness (see Figure S6a ) [ 71 ]. In general, the morphology of the polymer-modified ITO electrodes was the same as that of the bare electrode, indicating that the film was quite thin.…”

“…In order to explore all the three aforementioned tandem architectures, we investigate both the direct (n-i-p) and inverted (p-i-n) planar PSC architectures that allow us to guarantee the proper connection of terminals. In all the simulations we will consider ITO-coated glass substrates as they allow the highest device transparency due to the reduction of optical losses, [19][20][21] which is shown by comparing ITO and fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) (see Figure S2, Supporting Information).…”

“…The plane view SEM image of the FTO substrate is shown in Figure S2 , showing a smooth and uniform surface, consistent with that reported in the literature. 42 The tilted SEM view of the drop-casted sample is presented in Figure S3 , showing a generally smooth surface for unintentional particles generated during sample preparation for characterization.…”
