Jata: A Language for Distributed Component Testing

Abstract: 1 Distributed component requires test automation more than other components. Test language plays an important role in test automation. This paper proposes a new language, Jata, for testing distributed component in a systematic way by integrating the advantages of Junit and TTCN-3. To test a distributed component, multiple test clients are needed to emulate users to request services from the component under test. Those test clients should be deployed in different machines and can collaborate to finish the testi… Show more

“…The interested reader is referred to the historical review by Grawoski et al [12] to discover the various iterations that have led to today's version of TTCN-3 [1]. TTCN-3 is presented in Section 4 but, for the sake of completeness, it is worth mentioning that some competitors exist to this framework such as [13] [14] [15] but reviewing them falls outside the scope of this paper.…”

“…The framework focuses on automatic test execution without considering explicitly the generation and evaluation of the tests. Wu et al [50] propose Jata, a testing language for distributed components enabling the use JUnit in the context of service-oriented systems and offering support for a message-oriented middleware; like Yao and Wang [51] it focuses on the execution of component tests on web services. In contrast to the approaches in [51,50], IsoTeSO offers a complete approach from test generation over execution to test evaluation with a focus on agent-based systems and functional testing of single SO algorithms.…”
