“…The influence of JGM on BPH fecundity appears to act through several enzymes. Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (Acc)20 and fatty acid synthase (FAS)21 act in fatty acid synthesis and separately silencing genes encoding these enzymes eliminates the JGM-enhanced BPH fecundity. This work helps to understand the adaptive mechanisms planthoppers have evolved that lead to chemically-induced enhancements inBPH fecundity.…”

“…As reproduction was energetically linked through lipid metabolism, therefore, the decreased activities of ACACA and FASN could reduce lipid biosynthesis to have influences on fecundity . Based on our results, we suggested that azadirachtin treatment caused infertility via suppression lipid biosynthesis, interfering meiotic arrest, and impairing sex chromosomes during development of testis at adult stage …”

“…The influence of these chemicals operates through multiple systems, including carbohydrate transport19, protein biosynthesis18, developmental hormones18 and lipid biosynthesis20. Treating males with either of the insecticides, the organophosphate tzp or the pyrethroid, deltamethrin, led to increased protein contents in treated males and in untreated females after mating with treated males3.…”
