“…In this regard, an intriguing open challenge is the experimental detection of breathers in long Josephson junctions (LJJs) [11]. Indeed, while kinks (or fluxons, since they represent magnetic flux quanta in LJJs) are readily trackable [12,13] and can nowdays be exploited in various ways [14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24], breathers (i.e., kink-antikink oscillatory bound states) have yet to be observed, despite plenty of theoretical works on the subject [25,26,27,28,29,30,31,32,33].
