Justification of a comprehensive technology for preventing the formation of asphalt-resin-paraffin deposits during the production of highlyparaffinic oil by electric submersible pumps from multiformation deposits

Abstract: Severe problems accompany the production of abnormal oils with high pour point (with a paraffin content of over 30% by weight) in Kraynego Severa, Russia, due to the intensive formation of asphalt-resin-paraffin deposits (ARPD) in the bottom hole zone of the productive formation and downhole equipment. Possessing many advantages, the existing methods and technologies for coping with ARPD cannot fully solve this problem. As a result, complications arising from the production of high-wax oils lead to a significa… Show more

“…Potassium chloride is added to drilling fluids to stabilize water-sensitive clays through the inhibition created by potassium ions. Due to the inhibiting abilities of solutions that contain potassium chloride, clay hydration is reduced to a minimum, leading to a reduction in cavernosity, less sealing of the bit and stabilizer, less clay caving, and the preservation of reservoir properties [12,32,33]. Potassium chloride salt is used as the main source of potassium ions in the muds.…”

“…Thus, obtaining LSFOs by selective compounding requires solving the problem of incompatibility arising when mixing the fuel components of paraffinic/naphthenic and asphaltene base [19,20]. As a result, marine fuel, as a multicomponent petroleum product, loses its sedimentation stability during storage and transportation and asphalt-resinousparaffin deposits (ARPDs) stratify, coagulate, and precipitate on pipelines and in storage tanks [21][22][23][24].…”

“…Such a calculation itself would be a standard physicochemical problem if the researchers had exhaustive data on physicochemical properties of components. However, in practice the researchers face the lack of information about the system under consideration [40]. When preparing fuel for marine engines, fuel oil or other residual products of deep oil refining (oil tar, visbreaker tar) are often added to it.…”
