Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum Uzmanlarının Klinik Karar Destek Sistemlerini Kullanımı Utilization af Clinical Decision Support Systems Among Obstetricians and Gynaecologists

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the level of use of clinical decision support systems (CDSS) by obstetricians and gynaecologists (OB/GYNs), who work in three metropolises of Turkey. Methods:The population of this cross-sectional study consisted of 178 (20,4%) of 872 OB/GYNs working in İzmir, Ankara and İstanbul. The data collected through face-to-face the interviews with OB/GYNs were summarized in percentage distribution. Chi-square test was used to evaluate the relationship between the use of CDSS and independent variables. Findings: 71,9% of the OB/GYNs used at least one CDSS during the working hours. The percentage of those using CDSS every day was 14,8. The percentage of using CDSS was higher among the young physicians (p<0,001), women (p<0,001), those with less than 15 years of expertise (p<0,001), those having academic titles (p= 0,012), and those working in the public sector (p= 0,005) and tertiary healthcare institutions (p<0,001). Conclusion:Although most of the OB/GYNs use CDSS, the proportion of those using it regularly every day is low. It may be recommended that the specialty associations should provide promotion and training about CDSS applications.
