Semarang is a city located on the northern coast of the Java Sea which makes it becomes one of the cities threatened by tidal flooding. Besides tidal flood inundation, several other disasters occuring in Semarang include fires, fallen trees, floods, landslides, hurricanes, and collapsed houses. This study identified the disasters occurred in Semarang City from 2012 through 2021, as well as the strategies to cope with them in general, and specifically using information technology, namely Geographic Information System (GIS) maps. The data in this study were obtained from Regional Development Planning Board, Public Works Office, Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Semarang City Social Service, and several related stakeholders. Those data were, then, visualized on a GIS map. The findings indicated that one method of mitigation is the use of GIS maps of floods and landslides, as well as disaster mitigation through Semarang economy and government policies Keywords: Semarang, GIS, tidal, flooding, disaster, mitigation

Indonesia is an archipelago blessed with the wealth of coastal resources, but also with the risk of natural hazards including tectonic earthquake and tsunami. This potential risk is high in the Purwodadi Subregency, Purworejo Regency, Indonesia, because of its location in an active subduction zone at the edge of the Indian Ocean. Therefore, this study was conducted in the region located on the southern coast of Java Island. The high probability of disaster in the area needs a proper coastal management strategy and mitigation measures. Hence, this study aims to establish an appropriate policy using the strength-weakness-opportunity-threat (SWOT) analysis. Furthermore, the data obtained from this novel analysis include the population and social vulnerability, geological conditions, landuse allocation, and disaster strategies. Each is carefully assessed and then incorporated into the matrix to obtain the result. In addition, the alternative strategies used are the development of disaster mitigation facilities, infrastructure, and institutional strengthening.

Throughout 2016-2021, there were 31 landslides that have caused physical, economic, and social damages. Bumiaji Sub-District has several tourist destinations that are potentially exposed to landslides. This study aims to create a landslide risk map in Bumiaji Sub-District. This research was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Therefore, the data collected was secondary data obtained from Google satellite images, Google Street View, the digital elevation model from the National Geospatial Institution, and other literature reviews. The data was then analysed using a landslide risk assessment based on Perka BNPB Number 2/2012. The results of this risk analysis show that Bumiaji Sub-District is dominated by low-level risk (48%), followed by high-level risk (30%), and medium-level risk (15%). High-risk level is affected by high hazards and vulnerabilities, especially in Giripurno Village. High hazard level is affected by high intensity of rainfall, slope degree, the sensitivity of soil to erosion, and the type of land cover. High vulnerabilities are affected by physical, social, and economic aspects susceptible to losses.
