Karst vegetation coverage detection using UAV multispectral vegetation indices and machine learning algorithm

Abstract: Background Karst vegetation is of great significance for ecological restoration in karst areas. Vegetation Indices (VIs) are mainly related to plant yield which is helpful to understand the status of ecological restoration in karst areas. Recently, karst vegetation surveys have gradually shifted from field surveys to remote sensing-based methods. Coupled with the machine learning methods, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) multispectral remote sensing data can effectively improve the detection a… Show more

“…By referring to reference [29], it can be seen that in the wind resistance, the Kalman filter is combined with the gyro value to perform self-adjustment when the drone is tilted and tilted at the maximum angle. Optimize the maximum shooting angle of the aircraft.…”

“…The chlorophyll content in maize leaves (LCC) typically exhibits specific dynamic changes, reflecting the turnover of photosynthetic activity and biochemical components [6]. The fractional vegetation cover (FVC) provides information about the spatial distribution of crop growth and effectively characterizes the growth status of maize [7,8]. As maize approaches maturity, photosynthesis slows, and nutrient transport decreases, reducing the demand for chlorophyll.…”

“…VIs are calculated using the spectral bands of satellite or airborne sensors, and they are used to estimate biophysical parameters such as leaf area index (LAI), biomass, chlorophyll content, and water content [2]. These VIs have proven instrumental in offering insights into the complex world of vegetation, transcending our conventional understanding, and ushering in an era of comprehensive, quantifiable vegetation analysis [3].…”
