Abstract:The purpose and content of the book are briefly introduced, covering the 18 chapters that are presented in four parts based on regions and chronology. The terminology and classification of kilns and firing techniques in East Asia are discussed in order to clarify choices for terminology in the various chapters (a unification of terms and names is provided in a glossary at the end of the book).
