“…The position of the maximum of tryptophan fluorescence remained unchanged when the irradiation dose increased (λ max = 335 nm). The same situation was observed by us earlier upon irradiation of β L -crystallin [12] and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase [64].…”

“…The (V)UV photons emitted from the UV-jet are unlikely to be responsible for GAPDH inactivation. In previous studies, even 10 min of more intense UV radiation at wavelengths better suited to protein inactivation (260-280 and 310-315 nm) failed to inactivate GAPDH in solution [37,38]. It seems likely that, in addition to secondary reactions of photons and particles with cellular components in the cellular milieu (liquid chemistry), the ozone produced by the jets plays a significant role in GAPDH inactivation at this exposure time.…”

“…Glycogen phosphorylase b (Phb) and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase from rabbit skeletal muscle were used as model proteins [15,16]. The advantage of such test systems is that they allow studying the effects of different agents directly on the aggregation stages.…”
