More recently, a lack of a correlation between Lewis acidity and H/D exchange was observed by Schimming et al [33] after re-plotting the density of exchangeable H atoms vs. the surface acidity concentration of their ceria-zirconia mixed oxides. It seems reasonable to conclude, then, that a more careful consideration of not only the type and density but also the strength of the acid sites, is still needed to arrive to a more accurate correlation (if any) between acidity and H/D exchange rate.…”
