Kinetics of Isothermal Pyrolysis of Iodomethanes in the Gas Phase

Abstract

The limiting step of the isothermal pyrolysis of gaseous iodomethane (CH 3 I 6 3/4CH 4 + 1/2I 2 + 1/(4n)C n ) and diiodomethane (CH 2 I 2 6 1/2CH 4 + I 2 + 1/(2n)C n ) are the reactions 2CHI 6 C 2 + 2HI and 2CI 2 6 C 2 + 2I 2 , respectively. The rate constants of these reactions were determined.
