Kinetics of Methylcyclohexane Cracking over Silica-Alumina Catalyst

Abstract: Summary:For the catalytic cracking of methylcyclohexane in a fixed bed, the product distriperature and one atmosphere pressure over a F. C. C. catalyst consisting of 25.33 weight per cent of alumina. It was observed that the catalyst activity declined as the reaction proceeds. The authors proposed a kinetic model that included cracking, hydrogenation and coke formation steps in the reaction process, and the rate constants were determined by simulation approach utilizing this kinetic model.
