Abstract

Portraits have been used frequently in the field of plastic arts since its inception. Portraits presenting situations where the individual's "I" state is the most subjective are immortalized through artists. In retrospect, it is observed that societies' thinking structures have similar meanings to portraits. In parallel with the technological developments, there have been periods in which artistic practices have changed and therefore the purpose and location of the portraits has became diffirent. The portrait, which has undergone a sharp transformation especially with the discovery of the camera, has an important place today with its new meaning and expression possibilities. Exlibris is a printing application designed by artists on behalf of their users to be affixed to the inner cover of books. Exlibris, which has become quite widespread in our country in recent years, is important and valuable in terms of reaching an art object to the reader. Exlibris, which has the utilization internationally for many years with the link it has established between the book, the book owner and the artist, can also be exhibited by taking an art object. This research covers both the historical development of portraits reflecting personal privacy and the original exlibris made by Zeliha Kayahan on the main axis of portraits.
