Knowledge and attitude about medical incident reporting of medical staff at Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital in 2021

Abstract

The study was carried out with the objective of describing the knowledge and attitudes about medical incident reporting of medical staff at Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital in 2021. The study was carried out according to the cross-sectional descriptive research method, on 332 research subjects from 10/2020 to 5/2021. Results: Nearly one third (31.33%) of healthcare workers have inadequate knowledge about medical incidents 23.19%. The majority (80.73%) of healthcare workers are not aware of medical problems. The majority (76.81%) of healthcare workers have a positive attitude about medical incident reporting and 23.19% of healthcare workers have a negative attitude about medical incident reporting. Conclusion: The rate of understanding and attitude of medical staff about incident reporting is still limited. From there, the study makes recommendations including: It is necessary to develop policies to encourage and motivate medical staff to report medical incidents; Develop a medical incident reporting process that is concise, specific, full of information, easy to implement and suitable to the actual situation. Organize training courses for various types of medical staff in the hospital's departments and rooms on medical incidents; focus on training and guiding medical staff to practice reporting medical incidents according to the prescribed form.
