“…Previous studies have surveyed the beliefs, knowledge, and attitudes of health-care professionals and students of medicine, pharmacy, nursing, chiropractic, physiotherapy, psychology, and occupational therapy (Al-Fadhli, Amir, Qasim, & Mitra, 2016;Aveni et al, 2016;Barnett & Shale, 2012;Baugniet, Boon, & Ostbye, 2000;Bjerså, Victorin, & Olsén, 2012;Bradshaw, 2016;James, Bah, & Kondorvoh, 2016;Kreitzer, Mitten, Harris, & Shandeling, 2002;Tiralongo & Wallis, 2008). “…Researchers have also found a strong correlation between a practitioner's own use of CAM and positive views of CAM (Armson et al, 2020; Aveni et al, 2016; DeSylvia et al, 2011). Medical practitioners who share philosophical views congruent with CAM and who have personally engaged in CAM therapies appear more likely to engage patients in discussions around CAM therapies as well as refer patients to CAM practitioners (Armson et al, 2020; Aveni et al, 2016; Bradshaw, 2016; Trail-Mahan et al, 2013). However, given the limited use or discussion of CAM, it is important to consider that a lack of engagement around CAM use between professionals and their clients could result in individuals feeling discouraged, judged, and alienated in their treatment process (Islahudin et al, 2020).…”
