Knowledge-Enhanced Mobile Video Broadcasting Framework With Cloud Support

Abstract: The convergence of mobile communications and cloud computing facilitates the cross-layer network design and content-assisted communication. Mobile video broadcasting can benefit from this trend by utilizing joint source-channel coding and strong information correlation in clouds. In this paper, a knowledge-enhanced mobile video broadcasting (KMV-Cast) is proposed. The KMV-Cast is built on a linear video transmission instead of traditional digital video system, and exploits the hierarchical Bayesian model to in… Show more

“…1291 Figure 6 demonstrates MER values at each test point against distance to the transmitter. Acceptable MER value is 20-22 dB [9] and 100% of the data tested is greater than this figure, hence it fulfills the requirement. This means that the quality of audio and visual is good enough at the 100 tested locations.…”

“…Figure 5 shows that 92% of field strength readings are above minimum level, which is 56(dBµV/m) [9]. This result is considered good because the implementation of DVB-T2 in Malaysia is very new and most of the facility are still in research stage.…”

“…The key idea of HDA is to integrate the SoftCast-like analog method into the conventional digital video coding frameworks, thus it could provide both the advantages of digital coding and analog coding. Furthermore, the SoftCast based scheme also has been employed into satellite remote-sensing image transmission [38] and cloud image/video transmission over wireless channels [39]. A novel network slice design is proposed in [40], which consists of a rateless source compression scheme and an analog-coded SoftCast scheme.…”
