Abstract: Zusammenfassung. “…That is, the difference is that the somatic arousal is divided in two factors. A similar finding was also observed in other studies (Azevedo et al, 2010;Gieselmann et al, 2012), but these three factor/component structures were ignored since the two-factor composition was shown to be more robust. It is worth noting that Kohn and Espie (2005) stated that there may be problems related to the somatic scale of the PSAS.…”

“…We use the German version of the Pre-Sleep Arousal Scale to assess cognitive and somatic pre-sleep arousal. Eight and seven items load onto the factors somatic (Cronbach’s α = 0.80) and cognitive (Cronbach’s α = 0.94) arousal, respectively [170]. Items are scored on a five-point Likert scale ( not at all to extremely ) and summed up for each factor separately.…”

“…Patients rate how intensely they experienced each of the symptoms as they attempted to fall asleep. All 15 items (e.g., "a jittery, nervous feeling in your body") are scored on a five-point Likert scale (1 = not at all to 5 = extremely) and summed up for each factor separately [131,132].…”
