“…Some investigators have also identified subsets of both extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and ICC that appear to be driven by BRAF mutations [47][48][49]. However, this study did not find any BRAF mutations in the series of 28 ICCs, a findingalso reported byothers [50]. TP53 alterations have been reported in 39% (232 of 596) of biliary tract cancers and specifically in 41% (106 of 259) of bile duct carcinomas (as shown in the COSMIC database in June 2012).…”

“…However, mutual mutations in these 3 genes in different types of cancer have not been thoroughly investigated. Xu et al (2011) found that only 5.9% of mutations were in both PIK3CA and KRAS in human cancer of cholangiocarcinoma. In our study, we found that PIK3CA mutations coexisted with KRAS mutations in one sample.…”

“…[100][101][102][103] An Italian study showed that 23% (15/65) of hepatocellular carcinomas harboured the BRAF V600E mutation, whereas many other earlier studies had failed to detect any BRAF mutation. 100 In another study in Germany, BRAF mutation was noted in 22% (15/69) of cholangiocarcinomas.…”

“…101 On the other hand, the other available studies did not find any BRAF mutation in this cancer. 102 Carcinoma of gall bladder is uncommon. Nevertheless, BRAF mutation has been noted in 33% (7/21) of the cancer in one study.…”
